COOPER LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Lillian Frances "Boots" Acuff Puckett Cooper, 91, of Bay City will be held at 2 p.m. 11, 2014, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, with Bro. Interment will follow in Peebles Cemetery in Livingston. Her father died when Boots was barely six weeks old. She attended school in Goodrich and graduated from there.In that stoic determination that she had developed while growing up in a large family in a log cabin, she met adversity and did not flinch.She toiled diligently to carry on without her business partner and husband.Preceding her in death were her father and mother; her stepfather; her brother, Lee Douglas Acuff; her first husband, James Puckett and her second husband, Harwell Cooper and her step-siblings, Elsie Belcher, Lucille Diamond, Clay Smith, Haskell Smith, Vesta Mc Bride and Hubert Smith. Two siblings, Norma Jean Hancock and Jimmy Ray Smith, both of Livingston, survive her.Her sister-in-law, Opal Mitchamore of Baytown, also survives Boots as do her brother's widow, Mary Ola Acuff of Bay City and numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and one son.Those who had the special privilege of being loved by Boots and getting to care for her in her final years were her stepson, Bobby Cooper and his wife Helen of White Mountain Lake, Ariz. Boots stated many times that Helen was the daughter she never had and Helen has said Boots was a mother to her. 10, 2014, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, with Bro. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568 Interment followed in Bluff Creek Cemetery in Livingston. Boots was born on June 25, 1923 in a log cabin in Goodrich, to Prentiss Lamar Acuff and Lula Vera Henderson Acuff.
When her mother was married a few years later to Rafe Henry Smith, six step-siblings came to join them.
In 1992 a relationship with a childhood friend blossomed into romance and Boots married Harwell Cooper.
They had grown up together in Goodrich and Harwell's sisters and Boots had been lifelong friends.
